Your dog already has the drive. Alan Ott adds the control: steady to flush, shot or fall, with soft hands and a gentle voice.
“Training companion hunting dogs is not ‘One size fits all’. Dogs, like people, have distinct personalities and temperaments that make them unique to each other.”

“You resurrected Blue like a phoenix from the ashes. The result was a confident dog that hunts with his head up and tail up, and gets bolder and bolder every time we go out in the field.”

“Everyone including our vet, internationally known dog trainer Brenda Aloff, and the people at our local hunt club have been delighted with him. They use words like great conformation, wonderful drive and desire and a very sound dog.”
Kelly Pascoe
“I LOVE these dogs. What a WOW hunt they had on their first wild (very wild) bird hunt. The first day we shot 21 and the second day 12, one of the best west Texas hunts I've had in a long time.”
Roger Cameron
“I believe from the ever-mounting body of evidence that Bree is going to be one heck of a hunting dog. Thank you, Alan.”

We start by flushing birds out of remote launchers every time a young dog walks in rather than pointing. Pretty soon the young dog decides he should try to sneak up on the bird. That is their natural Point instinct coming out.
Next we teach them to hold their point while we flush the birds for them. This is done with very little voice conversation and more hand movements and cues from electronic collars. This method even works to encourage Labs to Point.
This method also allows us to train the dog to be steady to shot and fall if desired by the owner. In addition we use a low pressure method to teach force fetch to bring a dog along that will really enjoy retrieving.
Training time: a minimum of 6 weeks is expected.
